LeaseQuery’s cloud-based solution helps accountants and financial professionals eliminate lease accounting errors and ensure legal compliance. From reporting to journal entries, the software addresses and improves lease accounting and facilitates compliance for organizations across all sectors.
The challenge was to redesign LeaseQuery’s reporting tool, which needed to be more user friendly and help financial professionals work faster and more efficiently.
The outcome of the redesign helped financial professionals find existing reports faster and customize them easier, as well as build new reports quicker and save for future use.
LeaseQuery's former reporting tool struggled with usability issues, a cumbersome interface, and complicated flow.
While stakeholders were honest that the reporting tool was developed hastily, user feedback confirmed that the tool was lacking key features and the flow was confusing. After conducting interviews and surveys, patterns quickly emerged that highlighted pain points and and missing features. Heat maps and analytics also helped to prioritize which areas need the most attention.
How might we simplify the process for building and running reports?
The old model lacked understanding of what users needed to do first as well as how to find and customize components needed in their reports.
What if we established a clearer starting point, created search functionality, and improved content organization?
But first, let's make we understand our users, how they use reports, and why it matters.
Users can find and create reports easier and faster.
After a dozen calls with beta users, feedback validated design decisions around hierarchy, search functionally and content organization.
Overall, users appreciated the ease of use and expressed their excitement to use the redesigned tool. Since excitement rarely describes accounting tools, the impossible just might have been achieved.
